The Adventures of Biggles (Strato) No. 6 was the sixth of a series of nine comic albums published by Strato Publications of London in the 1950s which contained Biggles and other comic stories. Many of the Biggles stories had first been published by Action Comics, Sydney in their comic series also entitled Adventures of Biggles.
The cover shows an Canadair CF-100 Canuck and a Saab J-79 and was adapted from that of Australian issue #24. The cover gives a byline to W. E. Johns and states "Drawings by A. De-Vine".
Contents[]
The comic contained the following:
- Info page on Transports: Vickers Valetta, Convair C131A and Chase C123B.
- The Roof of the World - a Biggles story from Action Comics' Adventures of Biggles. This is one of the full length 23-page stories but is not divided into two parts like most of the others. Going by the attribution on the cover, this story is by Albert de Vine but it is not clear which issue of the original Australian series it came from.
- Biggles in Brazil - a Biggles story from Action Comics' Adventure of Biggles series. This shared an issue with The Missing Cameraman but it is not clear which Australian issue they came from. A French source indicates both #8 and #55 which is not very plausible.
- The Crimson Comet - No subtitle. Features the superhero secret agent who has wings but keeps them usually hidden under a trench coat. Set during the time of the Korean War. This time he is sent to scout out enemy troops believed to be massing for a counter-attack. Attributed to John Dixon. The Crimson Comet is sent to discover how communist troops are getting their supplies to the Yalu.
- "Wire Cutters at Bardia" - a non-Biggles story, unattributed.
- Tim Valour (Commander of the famous Tigerhawks) "Betrayed" - a non-Biggles story about a F-86 Sabre squadron set during the Korean War. Attributed to John Dixon. A communist ace pilot is sent to shoot down Tim Valour.
