In Biggles Scores a Bull, Steggles is the driver of Lord Dubray, a cattle breeder whose prize Hereford Bull had been stolen.

Although Steggles only makes a brief appearance in the story, he provided an important lead to the police investigation into the theft. Biggles had called on Lord Dubray, pursuing a line of enquiry about Don José Cordino, a rich Argentine rancher whom he thought might be implicated in the thefts of valuable bulls. Dubray told Biggles he had sold two heifers to Cordino about six months earlier. Steggles had delivered the cattle to Liverpool for onward shipment to South America. Steggles said he remembered the name of the ship because it seemed to him too much of "an old tub" to be carrying valuable cattle. It was the Juanita and its destination was Montevideo.
