In the Vandersteen comic strip Operatie Spacefighter, Sir Foster Dungham was the owner of an aerospace company which produced the ailerons for the F-42 Spacefighter. When the Spacefighter prototypes met with a number of accidents and the test pilots reported that the ailerons had jammed, Sir Fostr disputed this as his aircrafts works inspected the component very thoroughly before delivery. He did not know it, but one of his employees, Kovan, had been responsible for sabotaging the ailerons. Kovan was actually an enemy agent and brother of Sir Foster's wife, Helen and had obtained a job at his company under a false name. He and his accomplices had mixed a substance into the alloy used for the ailerons, causing them to soften upon being heated in flight and thus becoming susceptible to random failures.
Later, when Kovan sought to escape with Helen as a hostage, Sir Foster was instrumental in her rescue. Kovan had held Helen close to him, denying Biggles a clear frontal shot with his sniper rifle. But Sir Foster came up behind Kovan and took a risky shot and managed to hit him in the back, thus freeing his wife.
