In Sergeant Bigglesworth C.I.D., the Renkell light bomber was a high performance twin engine aircraft developed as a strike variant of the Renkell Wolf two seat fighter. Towards the end of the war, the sole example, the prototype, had been converted to a long range transport and had been removed from the Renkell works for use by the jewel robbery gang led by wanted ex-Nazi Julius Hans Gontermann.

Like the Renkell Wolf, aircraft were described as being of an unconventional design. It was said to have "no fuselage". Two engines in power eggs which portruded far in front of the nacelle which housed the crew. Behind the nacelle tapered down aft into a boom which carried the tail unit. The tail filet began halfway down the boom and ended in a balanced rudder which was almost a perfect oval.

Renkells-cygne jaune

The Renkell Wolf to the left and the transport to the right, as imagined by Francis Bergèse in Le cygne jaune (Miklo). The main difference is that while the rear canopy of the fighter drops down to form a tear-drop bubble, the rear cockpit of the transport is faired over, presumably to provide a roomier cabin behind the pilot and navigator for a bombload or passengers.
