Mayday and Pan[]
All kinds of airborne emergencies and situations experienced by our friends in the course of their adventures. The criteria for this is that the aircraft is airborne. It does not include being grounded by a sandstorm (see Suffering Snowballs) or acts of sabotage discovered on the ground, for which see this list of sabotage events.
- Sergeant Bigglesworth C.I.D.. Chapter 7. The Spur is ambused by the Wolf. Its fuel tank is holed by bullets, necessitating an emergency landing.
- Biggles' Second Case. Chapter 7. Biggles' Tarpon is hit by flak. Main tanks are punctured. Then caught in thick fog. Radio damaged and unable to call for rescue. Forced to ditch but managed to taxi up to an iceberg.
- Biggles' Second Case. Chapter 14. Biggles' other Tarpon is hit by flak. The aircraft becomes difficult to control but Biggles manages a successful emergency landing.
- Biggles Gets His Men. Chapter 4. Biggles and Ginger are attacked by an unknown Black fighter and shot down.
- Another Job for Biggles. Chapter 6. The Proctor is sabotaged. Ginger discovers the port wing fabric ballooning. Biggles turns back and lands at Aden.
- Biggles Works It Out. Chapter 11 and 14. Algy and Bertie attempt to escape from El Asile. Von Stalhein shoots and holes one of the fuel tanks of their DC-3 causing a massive fuel leak in the cabin and necessitating an emergency landing in the desert.
- Biggles in the Blue. Chapter 12. Algy is hit by ground fire and has to make an emergency landing at Inagua.
- Biggles in the Gobi. Chapter 10. Biggles' Halifax suffers a birdstrike and he has to make an emergency landing in the Gobi.
- Biggles Cuts It Fine. Algy's Sunderland is hit by fire from a submarine and he is obliged to cruise while Bertie makes repairs and then make an emergency landing on a crater lake.
- Biggles Makes Ends Meet. Chapter 14. Ginger is flying a stolen DC-3 to Kutaradja. On the way, the oil pressure of the starboard engine begins to fall. Ginger shuts down the engine but is able to make it to Kutaradja on the one remaining engine.
