In Biggles Goes to School, Fred Chapman is the innkeeper of the "House and Hounds" public house. He lied to provide Michael Dunnage with an alibi for the murder of gamekeeper Samuel Barnes, claiming that at the time of the crime, they had been drinking together at Hayford. The book does not detail if Chapman was complicit in any part of Dunnage's crimes and does not describe if he was punished.
