In Biggles in the Gobi, Father Dubron was one of the refugee missionaries whom Biggles was sent to rescue from Western China. Father Dubron, a French Catholic priest, had hidden in the caves of Nan-hu with 10 other missionaries.

When Nan-hu had been attacked by the troops belonging to Colonel Ma Chang, most of the missionaries had been captured or killed. However, Dubron, Miss Treves, Miss Summers, and Mr Ritzen had escaped capture and were on hand to meet Algy and Ginger on their arrival at Nan-hu.

Dubron did not speak much English and remained in the background for much of the story except for one instance when he was asked for his opinion of Ginger's plan to rescue a group of missionaries who had been taken prisoner. Dubron was described as a realist who accepted that some violence was needed to effect the rescue.

At the end of the book, Dubron was among the people safely airlifted out when Biggles arrived at Nan-hu with the Halifax.
